Marianna Hovhannisyan is a curator and a researcher. Her exhibitions and writings focus on contemporary art and education, archive-practice, artwork-artifact-institution relationship. Some exhibition/projects include Archive-Practice research project (2008-ongoing); 2012— exhibition (Gyumri International Biennale, RA, 2012); A Step Aside exhibition (Angle Art Contemporaine, FR, 2011); Soviet AgitArt. Restoration (artistic project of S.Baghdasaryan, A.Hovhannisyan, BM-Suma Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul, 2008; Arsenal Gallery, Poland, 2011), and Empty Fields exhibition-project (a commission by SALT, Istanbul, 2016).

Marianna worked; on the educational projects at the Dept. of Fine Arts, Armenian Open University (2006-13); for Summer Seminars for Art Curators, AICA-Armenia (2010); as an assistant of the curators, Armenian Pavilion, 54th Venice Biennale (2011). In 2014-15 she was a research fellow at SALT (the first EU-funded Turkey-Armenia Fellowship Scheme, Hrant Dink Foundation); a curatorial fellow in Collecting Matters project by Kadist Art Foundation, Paris (2015).

Marianna will start her Ph.D degree at UC San Diego, Visual Arts Dept. (2016-). She holds an MA in Global Arts, Visual Cultures Dept., Goldsmiths, University of London (2013-14); a BA in Art Knowledge, Dept. of Fine Arts, Armenian Open University (2003-07). She also participated in the International Summer School for Art Curators (AICA-Armenia, 2006-09); L’Ecole du Magasin, an independent curatorial program in France (2008-09).
